The record weather made for the perfect day for the Hall County Special Olympics held at Riverside Academy in Gainesville Tuesday.

Athletes competed from Hall County, White County and Gainesville City schools. The events included spring sports such as track and field, where one star athlete accumulated three medals, a gold medal in shot put included.

Caden Adams, a student at North Hall High School, was all smiles as he talked about his experience. He said he had a lot of fun during the games and that the event meant a lot to him.

"It's nice to see Caden and all the kids having so much fun and to see them so happy" Caden's mom, Robyn Adams said.

Candi Martin with North Hall High School said the Special Olympics give children with special needs something to look forward to and highlight their athletic capabilities.

"It's a lot of fun for them, and it gives them a lot of motivation to just be a regular kid," Martin said.
