OAKWOOD – The Class 5A No. 3-ranked Johnson boys soccer team began defense of its state title with a 6-0 win over Arabia Mountain last week and Junior Arrellano was a big reason.
Arellano scored half the goals for the Knights with a hat-trick performance in that game.
Johnson coach Brian Shirley said Arellano has been a key player, especially down the stretch, for the Knights this season.
Arellano has scored 17 goals this season and assisted on seven more scores.
For those reasons, Arellano has been named this week's Conditioned Air Systems Athlete of the Week.
We had a chance to catch up with Arellano and Shirley to talk about his play, the team's play this season and the team's chances to win a second-straight state championship.
