The driver killed in a single vehicle accident in the south Forsyth County area Friday afternoon has been identified as 62-year-old James Carl Barnes of Gainesville.
Investigators with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said in a statement released Monday Barnes was traveling north on Atlanta Highway (Ga. 9) near Glover Drive when his dump truck ran off the right side of the roadway. It appears Barnes overcorrected, and the vehicle then traveled left going back across the highway and crashing into a ditch.
According to Deputy First Class Matt Kirk, Traffic Investigator with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Barnes was pronounced died at the scene of the accident.
The accident was reported at 3:13 p.m. Friday, April 26.
The crash remains under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Unit
