Sam Carpenter was one of six Piedmont Lion baseball players to be selected to the USA South first team, the conference announced this week.
Carpenter, the junior left-hander from Gainesville, served as the dependable staff ace for the Lions. Carpenter led the team and the conference with 76.1 innings pitched. He also delivered a conference-best 82 strikeouts, which ranks sixth in the NCAA. Carpenter picked up a win in eight of his 12 starts, without taking a single loss on the season.
