*Registration has opened at Young Harris College for the 15th annual Clay Dotson Open to be held May 13 at Brasstown Valley Resort. *Isabella Scarlett, a junior at Gainesville High School,  was selected as a state finalist for the 2019 Governor's Honors Program in the area of Theatre Performance.  She will participate in a four-week program at Berry College in Rome this summer.

*North Georgia Technical College celebrated the grand opening of the new Industrial Technology Center on the Clarkesville Campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony April 24. 

*The Forsyth County Fire Department will be holding its annual Boot Drive next month.   Weather permitting, firefighters will be collecting donations at storefronts throughout the county on three Fridays and Saturdays: May 3-4, 10-11 and 18-19 in conjunction with local businesses.  They'll be seeking donations for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

*The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recently recognized three retiring county employees:  Sheriff’s Office Property and Forensics Management Administrator Tom Wilson, Sheriff’s Office Administrative Coordinator Roma Coulter and IS&T Project Manager II Beverly Darke.   Together, they have worked a total of 54 years for the county.
