The GHSA spring playoff season is in full swing as baseball joined tennis, soccer, and golf on Wednesday.

In baseball action, Buford began their playoff run with an impressive sweep of Arabia Mountain in Class 5A and Flowery Branch in Class 4A rolled past Heritage-Catoosa.

Meanwhile, Jefferson, which won the Class 4A state title in 2018, opened their Class 3A playoffs with a split of Westminster. A short-handed North Hall squad, the 2017 Class 3A state champion, managed a split with Coahulla Creek. Cherokee Bluff made history again, winning its first-ever playoff game in a split with Ringgold. But Habersham Central in Class 6A, East Jackson in Class 3A and Union County in Class 2A were all swept out of the playoffs on Wednesday.

In boys soccer action on Wednesday, Johnson opened defense of its Class 5A state title with an impressive win over Arabia Mountain at The Dungeon. Jefferson and East Hall in Class 3A also moved on to the second round.

However, East Jackson and Dawson County in Class 3A and Towns County in Class A Public and Riverside Military Academy in Class A Private all saw their seasons come to a quick end in the first round.
