Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier alumnus Deshaun Watson will be inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Alumni Hall of Fame during ceremonies in Houston, Texas, May 2.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America President, Jim Clark will present the award at a VIP Gold Card Reception during the organization's 2019 National Conference.

Steve Mickens, Chief Executive Officer and Derrick Caldwell, Area Director will attend the reception as representatives of Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier.

Mickens said “Deshaun Watson has inspired all of us. He has earned everything with his hard work. It’s even more special that he is one of our Club kids.  We are all so proud of him.” Caldwell was the Club’s Teen Center Director and served as a role model and mentor to Watson when Watson was a member. The two have remained in close contact.

Watson, in addition to being a member of the Gainesville-based Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier, was a football standout at Gainesville High School and Clemson University and now is the starting quarterback for the National Football League's Houston Texans.
