Class 3A No. 1-ranked Jefferson pulled into a first-place tie with Morgan County in Region 8-3A with a come-from-behind, 5-3 victory on the road Tuesday.

The Dragons (22-1, 15-1 Region 8-3A) scored two runs in the sixth to tie the game and plated two more in the seventh to grab the lead.

Zac Corbin allowed one hit and hit a batter while striking out five over the final two innings in relief to get the win. He came in for Lane Watkins, who went five innings scattering just three hits and yielding just one earned run.

Jefferson led 1-0 in the second after Sammy Elegreet reached on a fielder's choice, moved to second on a walk to J.J. Rapp, and then scored on a pair of passed balls. But No. 2-ranked Morgan County (22-6, 15-1 Region 8-3A) sent eight to the plate in the third, aided by two Jefferson errors and highlighted by a two-run home run from Jaron Ferguson for a 3-1 lead.

It stayed that way until the sixth. Trey McEver tied the game at 3 for the Dragons with a two-out, two-run blast of his own. In the seventh, Ryan Godfrey drove in the eventual game-winner with a groundout, scoring Mason Cooper, who walked. Elegreet added a big insurance run stealing home as part of a double-steal.

The two teams will conclude their three-game series on Thursday in Jefferson with a doubleheader. The Dragons need just one win to clinch the region title and earn the top seed heading into next week's Class 3A state playoffs.

First pitch for Game 1 on Thursday is set for 5 p.m.
