ATHENS — The No. 11-ranked Georgia men's golf team will wrap up the regular season as it hosts the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Monday at Athens Country Club.

The 36-hole tournament will consist of shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. and approximately 2 p.m. There is no cost for admission. Athens Country Club has a par-72 layout covering 6,917 yards.

The Bulldogs will field two squads for Monday's competition. “Georgia A” will consist of juniors Trevor Phillips and Gainesville native Spencer Ralston, sophomore Davis Thompson, and freshmen Will Kahlstorf and Trent Phillips. “Georgia B” will be made up of redshirt junior Tye Waller, junior Will Chandler, sophomores John Hilliard Catanzaro and David Sikes, and freshman Braden Jones (who will be making his Georgia debut).

“Georgia A” will open on the first hole, while “Georgia B” will start on the second hole.

The Bulldogs will travel to the SEC Championship on St. Simons Island April 24-28, then will play host to a NCAA Regional May 13-15 at the UGA Golf Course.

"It will be great to see our 10 guys under tournament conditions," Georgia coach Chris Haack said. "A tournament is so different than qualifying rounds. It's our chance to compete with each other and other teams on a course we're pretty familiar with. We'll be in the championship portion of the season soon, so this is another opportunity for a great test of golf.”

Joining the Bulldogs for the Southern Intercollegiate Championships will be Wofford, Kennesaw State, North Georgia, Youngstown State, North Alabama, USC Upstate, Francis Marion, Central Arkansas, Western Kentucky, South Carolina, Nicholls State, Gardner Webb, Savannah State, UNC-Wilmington, and Western Carolina.

The SICs were the brainchild of Georgia athletic director Herman Stegeman and Athens Country Club founder Lon Dudley in 1934. The first tournament was held in 1935 and ran annually through 1942. It resumed in 1946 and was held through 1965, then was re-launched in 1975 and ran through 1990. Past individual medalists include Wake Forest's Arnold Palmer in 1950, Oklahoma State's Bob Tway in 1979 and Centenary's Hal Sutton in 1980.
