Soccer: Lakeview girls hold off Chestatee, JHS boys beat Branch

GAINESVILLE — The Lakeview Academy girls soccer team won its eighth straight match after holding off Class 4A Chestatee Wednesday at War Eagle Stadium.

Millie Filson scored twice and Lauren Scott once in the first half for Lakeview (9-2) to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. Filson completed seventh consecutive game with a hat trick with another goal in the second half to put Lakeview up 4-0.

Kyleigh Drew scored twice in the last ten minutes for Chestatee (3-10).

Lakeview plays again on Thursday in a Region 8-A matchup with Athens Christian at home at 5 p.m.

Chestatee plays host to White County on Friday in a Region 7-4A match.

Junior Arellano recorded a hat trick and Cole Bowen had a goal and an assist to lead the Knights (12-2) to a non-region win.

Eliam Chavez also had a goal and Edgar Lopez added an assist.

It was the sixth consecutive win for Johnson, which has yet to allow more than two goals in any of their 14 matches.

Senior keeper Cooper Bowen had three saves in goal. 

Johnson next will play host to Meadowcreek on Friday.
