Hall County commissioners will vote Wednesday on a potential traffic signal for a curve that local officials say is dangerous.
County Public Works Director Ken Rearden told commissioners Monday that county officials have worked with the Georgia Department of Transportation to propose chevron signage with flashing lights to warn oncoming drivers about the curve on State Route 52 between Highway 365 and Glades Farm Road.
Rearden said GDOT would pay for the installation of the signal, while Hall County would pay $20 per month to maintain its electricity. Rearden said there are very few signals like the proposed State Route 52 project in the county.
"There are some chevron signs for sure, I don't think there are any in the county with LED lighting on it at this time, this would be the first," Rearden said.
District Three Commissioner Shelly Echols said she has heard of accidents in that curve, including a recent one involving a concrete truck.
"I would say this is something that's very needed in the community," Rearden said.
The Hall County Commission will vote on the signal at its voting session Wednesday at the Hall County Government Center on Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville.
