Two people have been arrested in the abuse of a baby boy in Barrow County.

According to information released by the Barrow County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division, authorities were called to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta on March 28 after health care providers discovered a 4-month-old infant with multiple broken bones. Investigators determined the injuries to the baby were consistent with abuse.

Sheriff's Capt. Cory Almond said the boy is improving and doing as well as can be expected, considering the circumstances of his injuries.

Investigators believed the parents were responsible for the injuries and arrested the father, Louis Coleman, Sr. on March 28. The mother, Seleta Basinger, was arrested the following day.

Coleman has been charged with 26 counts of aggravated battery, one count of criminal attempt to commit murder, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of battery and four counts of cruelty to children in the first degree. Basinger faces four counts of cruelty to children in the first degree.

Authorities did not release other details in the case, citing the ongoing investigation. A court order has placed the child under the custody of DFACS.
