Once again, the Hall County Master Gardeners (HCMG) will launch the spring planting season with its annual Spring Garden Expo at the Chicopee Woods Agricultural Center.
The two-day event is set for Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6.
"After a long, wet winter, gardeners in northeast Georgia are eager to get out and play in the garden. This show comes at the perfect time. We will have a little bit of everything and plants for everyone," said Mindy Wade, HCMG president and Spring Expo Co-Chairwoman.
HCMG is a non-profit group and proceeds from this fund raiser are used to serve projects in Hall County
According to organizers, regular Expo visitors will see many returning vendors such as The Potting Shed, Highland Gardens, Cutting Edge Plants, Shady Characters, Gardens of the Blue Ridge and Diego Family Flowers. Vendors offering gardening accessories include R and D Metal Designs, The Flighty Birdhouse Lady, Fairy Lights by Carol and Joseph’s Colours. A new vendor for 2019 is Plantosis, specializing in air plants.
"It’s exciting and it’s fun. Our vendors bring in all kinds of interesting plants and they have good prices," said Irene Michaud, the organization’s past president and Spring Expo Co-Chairwoman. “If customers have a question about something in their yard, a plant or anything, we have an ‘Ask a Master Gardener’ booth."
There will be garden related speakers each day, with four expert speakers offering free sessions:
- Enjoying Ferns Indoors and Out - 11 a.m. Friday
- Everything You Need to Know About Tomatoes - 1 p.m. Friday
- Attracting Beneficial Insects for Organic Gardening - 11 a.m. Saturday
- Planning For and Maximizing the Bounty of Your Garden 1 p.m. Saturday
Friday the gates open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a $2 per adult admission fee. Children are admitted free, but pets have to stay home.
The Chicopee Woods Agricultural Center is located at 1855 Calvary Church Road in Gainesville.
