A Commerce man lost his life when his motorcycle collided with a Jeep on Ga. 15 in Jackson County Saturday afternoon.
Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 32 in Athens were dispatched to Ga. 15/U.S. 441 at W.E. King Road at 1:52 p.m. Saturday, March 30, according to Cpl. C.E. Parker, assistant post commander of Post 32.
Parker said troopers were called to investigate a two-vehicle fatal crash involving a black four-door Jeep and a maroon Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
“The Jeep driver, a 17-year-old female driver from Buford, was traveling west, trying to cross [Ga.] 15 from W.E. King Road,” Parker said. “She failed to yield right-of-way to the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which was traveling south on [Ga.] 15 in the right lane.”
Emergency personnel arrived to find that James Toney, 52, of Commerce had died of his injuries.
Parker said charges are pending against the 17-year-old driver of the Jeep, whose name has not been released yet.
There is no suspicion of drug or alcohol use by either driver, according to Parker.
