United Community Bank will close its Murrayville branch on May 3. The office is at 5504 Thompson Bridge Road.
"How customers interact with banks is rapidly evolving, and customers are increasingly adopting our free and convenient services that don’t require visiting a branch location," Manager of Public Relations Emily Moseley said in an emailed statement Friday afternoon. "To better serve these changing needs, we have decided to consolidate our resources and combine select branches, resulting in the closure of the Murrayville location."
The statement goes on to say "We have chosen to allocate our resources in branches or offices that see a higher volume of customer traffic..."
Moseley says UCB is "sensitive" to the impact that closing an office has on its employees and "we are actively working with those affected to find opportunities for them in other areas of the organization."
United Community Bank has several other branches in the Gainesville area.
