GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville boys soccer team's defense was stifling Tuesday night against Dacula at City Park Stadium.
Powered by Jorge Vasquez, Elvis Bonilla, Alejandro Balbaneda and Jose Rodriguez, the Gainesville defense only allowed two shots on goal in a 4-1 win over region foe Dacula.
The win helped the Red Elephants (11-2, 6-2) stay at the top of the Region 8-6A standings.
Pedro Santos, Jorge Vasquez, Cesar Ramirez and Jose Aguilera each scored for the Red Elephants.
Dacula's goal came with 35 seconds left off a penalty kick.
In girls action, the Lady Red Elephants pulled off a 4-3 upset win over Class 6A No. 3-ranked Dacula.
Both teams will be in action Friday night at Winder-Barrow. Girls start at 5:30 p.m.

Sergio Turcios scored East Hall boys soccer team's only goal in a 1-0 Region 7-3A win over Lumpkin County Tuesday night at East Hall Stadium.
Freddy Rebollar assisted Turcios on the No. 3-ranked Vikings (10-1-1, 3-0) winning goal. Daniel Carrillo had two saves in goal on the night.
The Vikings will travel to North Hall Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
The Indians will host Dawson County Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
LUMPKIN COUNTY GIRLS 9,
EAST HALL 0
The Lady Indians exploded for nine goals to knock off the Lady Vikings, 9-0, on the road.
Makelvia Holder had 10 saves in goal for the night and Yoshi Castro had two saves in goal.
The Lady Vikings will travel to North Hall Friday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
Lumpkin will host Dawson County Friday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
