CLARKESVILLE – A motorcyclist who led officers on a two-county chase Saturday is behind bars in Rabun County.

Robert Ewers of Lakeland, Fla., was arrested after surrendering to officers just north of Hollywood on Ga. 15 late Saturday afternoon, according to Sgt. Casey Coffee of Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa.

Troopers from Post 7 were requested by Rabun County Sheriff’s Office at 5:32 p.m. Saturday to assist with a motorcycle pursuit.

“Troopers responded to the area of Ga. 15 and Clayton city limits, where they began to pursue the fleeing motorcycle,” Coffee said. “The pursuit continued from Ga. 15 in Clayton into Habersham County near the Hollywood area.”

Ewers was arrested after pulling the 2015 Honda 600RR motorcycle onto the shoulder of Ga. 15 just north of Dollar General in Hollywood and surrendering to officers.

GSP has charged Ewers with felony fleeing, speeding, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, and failing to use turn signal, Coffee said.
