Ken Howard, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent whose career has included drug squads in Gainesville and elsewhere in northeast Georgia, has been tapped to head a state drug unit in west Georgia
Howard has been named Special Agent in Charge of the West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office in Carrollton.
Howard has been employed with the GBI for 20 years and during that time he has held multiple positions with the agency. He started his GBI career as a narcotics agent at the State Drug Task Force where, acting in an undercover capacity, he infiltrated drug trafficking organizations throughout the state.
His subsequent assignments were the Gainesville RDEO, Canton RDEO, Region 8 Field Office, and the Appalachian RDEO. Howard served as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the Appalachian RDEO from 2014 until his promotion to Special Agent in Charge. Prior to being hired by the GBI, Howard served as a police officer for the Brunswick Police Department.
