HELEN – The Alpine Helen 50th Anniversary Committee is making a last-minute push to gather family-friendly photographs of families and friends enjoying the city over the past 50 years.
Visitors, area residents and those who do business in the city are invited to submit their photos of Alpine Helen by the March 15 deadline. Those photographs can include special events such as parades and Oktoberfest, the town and its landscape, or the people who live, work and play there.
Helen, known as Georgia’s Alpine Village, in 2019 is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its transformation from a sleepy former lumber town and then in 2020 will celebrate the city’s 50th Oktoberfest.
The committee is gathering photos for use with new articles, in commemorative presentations and in displays that may appear throughout the city during the upcoming anniversaries.
Photographs of and from Helen may be emailed to the committee at [email protected]. By sending the photographs, the sender consents for them to be used without compensation by the anniversary committee, the city or its assigns and agents for marketing the events planned in 2019 and 2020, as well as the city now and in the future, or to be displayed in the Helen Arts & Heritage Center, in historic and welcome center displays and for other purposes.
All photos submitted should include the names of those pictured, the approximate date or year of the photograph, and the occasion (vacation, special event, party, day trip, etc.). Also, senders should include the name, mailing address and contact information (email or cell phone) of the person making the submission.
Each person who submits a photograph for the upcoming anniversaries by March 15, 2019, will be entered in a random drawing with three winners selected to receive prizes.
