Hall County became one of a number of local jurisdictions in Georgia to pose formal opposition to a proposed state bill that would restrict local governments' ability to enforce certain design standards for houses.
Hall County commissioners voted unanimously Thursday to pass a resolution opposing the bill. County Planning Director Srikanth Yamala spoke after the meeting, saying he thinks the bill is a matter of state versus local control.
"I think, you know, any local design elements or standards, the local planning commission and the board of commissioners would know what's best for a particular jurisdiction, and that's what we would like to continue to have."
Locally, the city of Lula has also voiced opposition to the bill. No residents spoke for or against the county's opposition at Thursday's meeting.
