Tennis: GHS boys open Region 8-6A with win; North Hall splits in openers

BETHLEHEM — The Gainesville boys tennis team opened its Region 8-6A schedue with a solid win over Apalachee Tuesday.
 
The Red Elephants picked up wins at No. 2 singles Dylan Pineda, who won 6-0 6-0. Ben Burns at No. 3 singles took a 6-1, 6-2 victory while the doubles teams swept.
 
At No. 1 doubles Michael Head and Caleb Anderson won 6-2, 6-4 and at No. 2 doubles Joseph Diaz and Matthew Carter took a 7-6, 6-1 win.
 
Ganesville will play host to Johnson on Thursday.
 
 

NORTH HALL SPLITS IN OPENERS

The North Hall girls took a 5-0 win over Athens Academy while the boys fell 5-0 to Athens Academy in both teams' season openers.

For the girls, Anna Montgomery, Lauren Davis, and Baylee Turner took wins in singles. SydneyPatterson and Raquel Kallab took a win at No. 1 doubes while the No. 2 doubles team of Ella Oxley and Lauren White completed the sweep.

In the boys match, the Trojans did not win a set against the 2018 Class A Private semifinalist Spartans.

 

Both teams will take on Dacula on Wednesday

 

Girls are 1-0 on the year snd face Dacula tomorrow. 

NH boys lose to 0-5
Boys are 0-1 on the year snd face Dacula tomorrow.
