MACON — The Lanier Christian Academy boys bid for a first-ever state title came to an end Saturday night in the GICAA Division II-AA state championship game.
The Lightning lost 77-66 to Covenant Christian despite having four players in double figures in scoring.
Covenant led from start to finish using a 17-8 first quarter to grab the lead. LCA managed to cut the lead to 35-29 by halftime and pulled within 49-44 heading into the fourth quarter. But Covenant outscored the Lightning 28-22 in the final period to seasl the title.
Tommy Wandrum had 20 points and 7 assists to pace LCA. Stephen MacLagan added 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and Trevin Last had a double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Justin Wade had 10 points, Joseph Edwards 8 points, and Alec Hughes chipped in with 2 points for the Lightning.
