The man who is accused of shooting and killing Gainesville businessman Jack Hough in the CVS Pharmacy parking lot on Park Hill Drive reportedly had just been released from prison.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports DeMarvin Bennett, 24, of East Point had just released from prison four months before the February 7 fatal shooting.

Bennett served seven years for an armed robbery in Forest Park. The newspaper also reported Bennett is a known gang member.

Bennett is currently in the Hall County Detention Center on a malice murder charge for the death of Hough.  Investigators believe he and his girlfriend had come to Gainesville from East Point in search of jobs and a place to live.
