GAINESVILLE — The Flowery Branch boys tennis team took a tough 3-2 win over Gainesville Thursday at Longwood Park.
The Falcons swept the singles while the Red Elephants took both doubles matches.
In the singles, the Falcons' Jack Thomas beat Dylan Pineda 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1, Gunnar Hetzel rallied to beat Phillip Maday in three sets at No. 2, and Matthew Helms took a 6-1, 6-3 win over Ben Burns at No. 3 singles.
In the doubles, Gainesville's No. 1 team of Michael Head and Caleb Anderson rallied to knock off Nathan Shedd and Mauricio Castro in three sets while the No. 2 team of Joseph Diaz and Matthew Carter beat David Eskew and Santino Sengson 6-1, 6-1.
