A Clermont man remains in the Hall County Jail Wednesday on $9,000 bond, facing a statutory rape charge.

Damian Skylee Burch, 21, was taken in to custody Monday after warrants were obtained for his arrest on January 31, according to Derreck Booth, spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

The release states when Burch was 20 years old, he had sexual intercourse with a then-14 year old female victim on December 31, 2017 at a residence on Sardis Road.

"The report of the incident was made to the sheriff's office in November of last year. So we're talking late 2017, and then the report made in 2018," said Booth. "When the report was made, investigators were assigned and investigated the case, and throughout that investigation they determined that Mr. Burch had sexual intercourse with the victim on that New Year's Eve, at a residence on Sardis Road."

Burch and the victim knew one another prior to the incident, Booth said. "Investigators believe it was the single incident."

The case remains under investigation.
