Two people from Winder are facing charges after authorities investigated a call at the hospital of an infant suffering broken bones.
The Sheriff's Office responded to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center - Barrow on February 6, regarding a three week old baby with multiple broken bones.
"Upon my investigator's arrival and through further investigation, they learned that the child had sustained several injuries," said Capt. Cory Almond. Investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division determined the baby had been abused, though Almond said he was not able disclose the extent of the injuries at this point in the investigation.
Jarrett McCloud, 20, and Megan Richmond, 22, are both facing aggravated battery and cruelty to children in the first degree, according to the release. Additionally, McCloud faces a reckless conduct charge.
"That is in connection to some additional information and things we found on his cell phone in reference to the child that I can't disclose at this time," said Almond.
Almond said the baby boy remained in the hospital, in Department of Family and Children's Services custody. The parents remain in jail.
