Gainesville Police Department investigators have obtained some forensic evidence after spending the night investigating a shooting incident that happened Thursday evening at a city drugstore.

"Investigators and crime scene personnel have been working throughout the night to assist in this case, and overnight they were able to develop forensic information that has been sent to the GBI and expedited," said Sgt. Kevin Holbrook. "We're hoping that will lead us to where we need to be in this case. It's very valuable information and it's one that we feel will assist in this case and bring forth information that hopefully, we'll be able to release to the public."

One person was shot, and later died, at the scene at CVS Pharmacy on Park Hill Drive and Enota Avenue.

"The victim...has been identified as Jack Hough. He is a very prominent local philanthropist. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time, we are working with them and for them and hoping we can bring some peace to them during this very difficult time."

The suspect has not been found, but Holbrook said a black male was seen leaving the area about the time the incident occurred. Holbrook said they utilized aviation units from the Georgia State Patrol in the initial search Thursday, as well as their own K-9 units, and K-9s from Hall County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Department of Corrections.

"We do encourage anyone with information to come forward, that may have seen anything suspicious in the area, at or around 8 p.m. or prior to that," said Holbrook.
