Basketball playoffs: Lakeview girls, RMA boys roll into 8-A semifinals

COMMERCE — The Lakeview Academy girls rolled into the Region 8-A semifinals with a 52-26 win over George Walton Wednesday in the first round of the region tournament at Commerce High School.

Recently-named Region 8-A girls Player of the Year Eliza Snyder had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds and added 4 assists as well to lead Lakeview. Sadie Thrailkill added 11 points and 7 rebounds, Joelle Snyder had 9 points and 3 steals, and Jasmine Howard had 8 points and 5 rebounds for the Lady Lions. Jackie Allen added 5 points and 3 assists.

Lakeview, the top seed in Region 8-A, improved to 22-4 and next will take on host Commerce on Friday at 7 p.m. in the semifinals.

Isaac Teasley poured in 29 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lad the top-seeded Eagles to a dominating win in the quarterfinal round of the Region 8-A boys tournament.

Areeb Ahmad added 18 points to go with 2 steals and 3 rebounds for Riverside.

The Eagles next will take on No. 4 seed Prince Avenue in Friday's 8:30 p.m. semifinals.
