Devin Deshazer, a Criminal Justice major from Toccoa, is North Georgia Technical College's 2019 Georgia Occupational Award for Leadership winner.

Deshazer now moves on to compete at the regional level, with hopes of advancing on to the state competition in March.

“Recognizing students is always exciting, but recognizing students through the GOAL Program is even more significant at NGTC because of our history,” said Fran Chastain, NGTC Dean for Student Affairs. “GOAL was founded at NGTC and then adopted throughout the state through the leadership of two phenomenal men: past NGTC President Jim Marlowe and Bob Evans.”

“Devin was not only chosen as the GOAL winner, but was also selected as the Marlowe-Evans Scholarship recipient, due to his dedicated community service and work with local teens. He is a good speaker with big goals both personally and professionally,” Chastain added.

Other finalists for the GOAL award at North Georgia Tech were Cheryl White of Hiawassee, Shannon Sutton of Clarkesville and Chase Burdette of Comer.
