COMMERCE — Dawson County dropped its opening game in the Christmas in Commerce tournament Friday night falling 53-38 to Stephens County.
The Tigers (8-6) were held to just 16 first half points and trailed 20-16 heading into the second half. The Indians extended their lead to 38-28 after the third quarter and pulled away down the stretch.
Sophia D'Oliveira led Dawson County with 14 points. Marlie Townley scored 9 and Mariah Benson had 8 for the Tigers.
