Lake Lanier: Long-time New Year's Day event just around the corner

Once again, for the 22nd year, the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club is hosting its New Year's Day "Polar Bear Plunge" at the Lake Lanier Olympic Center on Clarks Bridge Road.

The event is a major fundraiser for the club and is set for noon Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Pre-Registration is available on the LCKC website www.lckc.org, or https://fs17.formsite.com/lckc1/form17/index.html.

Check-in and On-site Registration begins at 10:45. Participants should arrive before 11:30.  Jumps begin at 12:00.

There will be awards this year for best jump, best costume, youngest jumper, oldest jumper, biggest best glasses for the year and decade ahead (20-20).

Registration includes a hot bowl of chili, desserts and warm drinks to re-warm after the jump. All preregistered participants will receive an event t-shirt in their size. If supplies run out at the event, additional t-shirts will be ordered and delivered to participants that may not have received one.

Fees are Single Jumper - $30.00. Family (Up to 4 related family members) - $90.00
