The Flowery Branch girls basketball team can make Lanierland Tournament history, but they'll have to run through the field to do so.

The Falcons, Gainesville (1992-95), and West Hall (1997-2000) are the only girls programs to win four-straight Lanierland Tournament titles. If the Falcons pull off the incredibly hard task this year, they'll set a record of five straight. It's a feat no other team has done in the 60-year history of the state's oldest invitational tournament.

Branch coach Courtney Newton-Gonzalez talks about the ride her Falcons have been on and what it will take to win the elusive fifth straight.

Lanierland begins on Friday at East Hall High School when the Lakeview girls battle Chestatee for a trip to the semifinals. Tip-off beings at 9:30 a.m.
