The occupant of a Banks County home escaped injury when fire damaged that structure Monday afternoon.

Banks County Fire/EMS personnel and Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department responded to 2861 Yonah Homer Road, Homer, at 2:42 p.m. Dec. 23 on a reported structure fire.

“Upon arrival, units found a single-family residence with fire showing from the front windows and door area,” said Banks County Fire/EMS Chief Steve Nichols. “An aggressive interior attack was made by the crews and the fire was contained to the room of origin.”

The home is listed as having moderate damage throughout.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation by Banks County Fire Department, but a faulty multi-electrical plug could not be ruled out as the cause,” Nichols said.
