Girls basketball: Dawson County, Lumpkin, North Hall, Rabun roll; Chestatee wins in Florida

WATKINSVILLE — Dawson County used a huge second run to erase an early deficit en route to a 59-43 win over Oconee County Friday night on the road.

The Tigers (8-5) trailed 11-9 after the first quarter bu led 33-17 by halftime. Both teams scored 26 points in the second half as the Warriors could not catch up. It was the Tigers' third win in four games over a 10-day stretch.

Sophia D'Oliveira knocked down 14 points to lead Dawson County. Mardie Townley added 13 points and Kirklyn Porter and Mariah Benson had 9 points each for the Tigers

Dawson County is off until Dec. 27th when it takes part in the Christmas in Commerce Tournament at East Jackson.


LUMPKIN COUNTY 53,
BANKS COUNTY 35

Kate Jackson scored 17 points and Isabel Davenport had 14 in the Indians win on the road Friday night.

Lumpkin fell behind after the first quarter, 11-9, but outpaced the Leopards 44-24 over the next three quarters. 

Lexi Pierce chipped in 13 points for the Indians. 

Kamryn Grier and Hailey Seahorn had 8 points each to lead the Leopards.

 

NORTH HALL 38,
HABERSHAM CENTRAL 27

The Trojans held the Raiders to 8 points or less in every quarter in taking a non-region win Friday in Mt. Airy.

However, North Hall (8-4) trailed 7-6 after the first quarter. The Trojans used a 12-6 second-quarter run to take an 18-13 lead into halftime and extended the lead to 28-19 heading into the fourth quarter.

Lauren Swanson and Grace Hollifield each poured in 11 points to lead the Trojans.

North Hall is off until opening the Lanierland Tournament on Dec. 27.

 

RABUN COUNTY 59,
WALHALLA, S.C. 49

Loren Stiles scored 15 points to lead the Wildcats to the win in an interstate battle.

Gracie Deetz added 14 points and 6 rebounds and Destiny Deetz pulled down 9 rebounds for Rabun County.

 

CHESTATEE 65,
RUTHERFORD (Fla.) 31

Maggie McNair set a new school record for 3-pointers in a game knocking down eight in the win in the Panama City Beach Classic tournament McNair finished with 26 points to pace the War Eagles (5-6), who also snapped a two-game losing streak.

Danielle Bull drained five 3-pointers to finish with 17 points and Bowen Corley added 8 points for Chestatee.

The War Eagles next will Leeds out of Birmingham on Saturday in the Panama City Beach Classic.
