DAWSONVILLE — The Dawson County girls basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to rally past Flowery Branch, 60-55, at the Ford E Phillips Center on Saturday.

The win split this year's series with the Falcons (5-4, 2-0 Region 7-4A).

The Tigers (5-4, 1-1 Region 7-3A) were down by 7 at the half and outpaced The Branch 11-10 in the third quarter. But Maddi Anglin, Sophia D'Oliverira and Marlie Townley fueled the Tigers' high-scoring fourth quarter to seal the win.

Kirklynn Porter had 8, Mariah Benson scored 4, and Bella Henson had 2 points.

On the boy's side, Campbell Reed scored 20 points to lead the Tigers (7-1, 3-0 Region 7-3A) to a 76-48 win over Flowery Branch. Mason Barnes chipped in 10 points.

The Tigers ran out to a 27-4 lead after the first quarter and led 46-14 at the half. The Falcons (1-9, 0-2 Region 7-4A) did manage to find some offense in the second half, behind Judson Burney (10 points) to win the half, 34-30, but the first-half woes were too much to overcome.

Dawson County will play host to North Hall on Friday at 7 p.m., while Flowery Branch will travel to Blessed Trinity on Tuesday at 6 p.m..
