Boys basketball: Dawson lets it rain against North Forsyth; North Hall holds on; Johnson edges White

COAL MOUNTAIN — Dawson County put on a 3-pointer clinic in a 70-44 rout of North Forsyth in the Raider Thanksgiving Classic at Raider Arena Tuesday night. 

Mason Barnes hit four of the Tigers' 16 3-pointers and scored a game-high 20 points. Campbell Reed and Tate Adkins poured in 15 points each, with Adkins scoring all of his points behind the arc. 

It wasn't only an offensive explosion for the Tigers as they held North Forsyth to single-digit quarters in the second and third while extending their lead to 30 points.

The Tigers led 14-12 after the opening period but outpaced the Raiders 19-6 in the second to take a 36-18 halftime advantage. Dawson hit eight 3-pointers in the final quarter to outscore North Forsyth 22-9 in the final frame.

Jasper Gibson ended the night with 13 points.

Canon Jackson and Cory Seitz led the Raiders with 13 points each.


JOHNSON 56,
WHITE COUNTY 48

The Knights' outscored White County 17-4 in the final quarter to rally to the win at North Hall on Tuesday.

In a back-and-forth game, Johnson jumped out to an early 18-11 advantage after one. The Warriors stayed close in the second quarter, trailing 26-22 at the half.

In the third, White County came out hot, taking a 44-39 lead at the end of the third period. In the fourth, behind the play of Jesse Harbin and Buddah Johnson, the Knights smothered the Warriors on defense and pour in 17 points to take the win.

Harbin led the Knights with 19 points and Johnson had 14. Jose Cabrera added 9 points.

Reece Dockery and Will Sampson had 10 each to lead the Warriors' scoring.

Johnson plays host to Habersham Central on Tuesday. Tip is 7:30 p.m.

White County welcomes Blessed Trinity to open Region 7-4A play on Tuesday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. 


NORTH HALL 59,
UNION COUNTY 53

Brock Cooper scored 12 points and Robert Terry had 10 to lead the Trojans past Union County at home on Tuesday.

North Hall (4-1) led after the first 19-15 and at the half 36-27. In the second half, the Trojans extended their lead to 10 points, 48-38, but had to fight off a fierce Union County rally in the fourth quarter. 

Sawyer Drake and Landon Cox had 12 each to lead Union County.

North Hall will travel to East Hall on Tuesday. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
