JEFFERSON — Colby Clark knows how to take over a game.
The Jefferson quarterback did just that on Friday, rushing for 126 yards and four touchdowns in Dragons' 28-7 win over Appling County on Friday at Memorial Stadium. The win catapulted Jefferson into the quarterfinals of the Class 3A playoffs.
"He's a special kid," Jefferson coach Gene Cathcart said. "Everything good thing that happens to him he's fought through and earned. Colby is a special leader to this football team. When it comes crunch time, everybody knows that No. 5 is getting the ball."
Clark has rushed for 1,007 yards and passed for another 549 while scoring 23 rushing touchdowns and nine passing this season.
"This team ... they're a bunch of fighters," Clark said. "We're not the biggest. We're not the strongest, and we're not the fastest, but we won't quit. That's what I love about this team. I've never had a team like this. It's a special team, and I wouldn't trade it for anyone. I would play with this team against anyone."
To watch, press play.
