The Gainesville/Hall County HEAT Unit recently swept the traffic awards at the Northeast Traffic Enforcement Network awards banquet.
All three members of the unit took home honors based on their performance in the areas of enforcement, awareness, and education.
*Gainesville Police Officer Larry Sanford - Occupant Safety Awareness Award
*Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Cooksey - Speed Awareness Award
*Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy John Thompson - Impaired Driving Awareness Award
The HEAT (highway enforcement of aggressive traffic) Unit is supported by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety through grant funding. The unit is one of several HEAT teams that patrol roadways across the state to keep motorists safe from aggressive and impaired drivers.
The NETEN awards were presented on Thursday, November 14, at the Gainesville Civic Center.
