Tigers roll in big win over Branch; Lakeview, West Hall, Commerce all win; Bluff falls

FLOWERY BRANCH — Mason Barnes scored 16 points and Eli Burruss chipped in 14 to lead Dawson County past Flowery Branch, 55-36, Tuesday night on the road. 

Campbell Reed tossed in 13 points in the win.

The Tigers roared to a 27-12 halftime lead and outscored the Falcons 19-4 in the third quarter to blow open the game, 46-16. 

Judson Burney led the Falcons with 15 points.

 

ST. PIUS X 63,
CHEROKEE BLUFF 59

Despite having three players in double digits, Cherokee Bluff fell to St. Pius X in Atlanta.

Cory Thomas scored 20 points, had Griffin Neville had 13 points and Bosco Norman chipped in 10 points in the loss. Jason Everett and Palmer Weaver each had 7 points. 

 

LAKEVIEW 67,
JOHNSON 65

Declan Weaver scored 17 points to lead Lakeview past Johnson in overtime at home on Tuesday.

Trailing 46-41 at the end of the third quarter, the Knights rallied to tie the game, 58-58, at the end of regulation.

In overtime, the Lions outpaced Johnson by two points to seal the win.

Lakeview's Harrison Cooper scored 14 points and dished out five assists and Sam Stewart had 7 points and 6 boards. 

The Lions at Chattanooga Christian on Friday. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

 

 

LUMPKIN COUNTY 67,
CHESTATEE 43

Lumpkin County was good on both ends of the floor Tuesday night as they knocked Chestatee at home on Tuesday. 

The Indians controlled the game from the tip, jumping out to a 20-12 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Indian defense smothered the War Eagles, allowing only six points and taking a 35-18 lead at the half. 

In the second half, the Indians maintained their lead, never allowing Chestatee closer than 16 points. continued their dominance, outpacing the War Eagles

Pat Jackson led the Indians with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Jacob Cumbie scored 16 points and pulled 5 boards, while Peyton Polk scored 11 points and had 6 rebounds. Chandler Pulley chipped in 8 points.

Jonah Bull led the War Eagles with 12 points.

 

WEST HALL 58,
JACKSON COUNTY 51

 
Sawyer Passmore scored 25 points and was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line down the stretch to help West Hall past Jackson County Tuesday night at home. 

Quincy Holcomb added 13 points in the win. 

The Spartans controlled most of the game but Jackson County, behind Kalib Clinton's hot hand, made things interesting in the third quarter. The Panthers closed the gap to just one point at the end of the third but West Hall, with a balanced scoring attack, pulled away late in the game. 

Clinton finished the night with 27 points for the Panthers. 
 

 

COMMERCE 45
LAKE OCONEE ACADEMY 28

The Tigers opened their season with an impressive on Tuesday.

Commerce (1-0) was led by Ian McConnel with 19 points. Dominic Ricci added 10 and Collin Veal chipped in 8 for the Tigers.
