COMMERCE — The weather may have slowed down the Tigers some, but not enough to stop the Commerce power run game.

Sam Roach trudged through the mud at Tiger Stadium to finish with 113 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Tigers past Trion, 23-6, in the first round of the Class A-Public playoffs on Friday.

The Tigers (9-2 Region 8-A) will travel to Lincoln County (8-2 Region 7-A) on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Eryck Diaz  34-yard field goal late in the first quarter was Tigers only points until Roach found some footing in the mud on a 1-yard run with just over 8 minutes left in the half. The Tigers led 9-0 after the failed extra point.

Daniel Wilson extended the lead in the second half 16-6 on a 10-yard sweep late in the third. Wilson also logged an interception in the quarter.

Roach tacked on the final score with 9 minutes left in the final period.

Nate Ray finished with 11 carries for 67 yards.
