Girls basketball: North Hall, Lakeview open with big wins; Falcons hold off Oconee County

GAINESVILLE — The North Hall girls opened their season with a solid 67-34 win over Jackson County Thursday at home.

Grace Hollifield paced North Hall (1-0) with 24 points. Rylee McCall added 17 points and Ansley Smallwood 8 points for the Trojans.

North Hall next will travel to Habersham Central on Tuesday.

The Lions opened the season with an impessive win Thursday night.

Eliza Snyder led three players in double figure scoring with 26 points and added 8 rebounds. Joelle Snyder poured in 17 points and had 5 steals, Maddy Towles pulled down 14 rebounds to go with 6 points, and Jackie Allen had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Lakeview.

The Lions next will take on Class 7A Roswell at 1:30 p.m. at North Forsyth High School.

 

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 48
OCONEE COUNTY 39

The Falcons improved to 2-0 on the young season with their first road win of the season.

It was a tight affair most of the way with the Branch leading just 15-13 after the first quarter and 24-23 at halftime.

The Falcons stormed out of the intermission to outscore the Warriors 13-7 in the third quarter for a 37-30 lead. They continued to pull away in the final period.

Junior Ashlee Locke led the way for Flowery Branch with 16 points. Freshman Keidra Young added 14 points.
