ALPHARETTA — Flowery Branch’s bid for a No. 3 seed in Region 7-4A was snuffed out by Denmark Friday night.

The Danes scored 27 unanswered points en route to a 34-14 win over the Falcons.

The Falcons (7-3, 3-3 Region 7-4A) opened the scoring with a 1-yard scoring run from Chandler White late in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead. But Denmark responded big in the second and third quarters.

Denmark got a pair of big touchdown runs from Ze'vain Capers and Casey Gunn just before the half to take a 14-7 lead into the intermission. The Danes increased it to 27-7 on touchdown runs from Aaron McLaughlin and Kenon Dicks in the third quarter.

Baxley O'Brien pulled the Falcons to within 27-14 on a 5-yard TD reception from David Renard late in the third. But a 45-yard TD pass from McLaughlin to Teddy Davenport on Denmark’s next drive put the game out of reach.

The Branch outgained Denmark 333 to 330 but three turnovers killed several drives. Jaizen Ellingham finished with 177 yards rushing to pace the Falcons.

Jaizen Ellingham rushed for 175 yards in Flowery Branch's loss to Denmark on Friday.
