GAINESVILLE — Chestatee’s Christian Charles accounted for 528 total yards in leading the War Eagles to a stunning 70-14 blowout win over West Hall Friday night at War Eagles Stadium.
Charles was 15-of-21 for 334 yards and two touchdowns passing and added 194 yards rushing with four more scores. His favorite target, like in so many games over the past two seasons, was senior Seth Pressley, who had 9 catches for 225 yards and 2 TDs in his final game for the War Eagles (2-8, 1-5 Region 7-4A).
While the Chestatee offense was busy piling up the yards, the War Eagle defense was busy forcing six West Hall (0-10, 0-6 Region 7-4A) turnovers. The 70 points by the War Eagle offense set a new program-record, topping the old mark of 60 scored against Lumpkin County in 2017.
West Hall’s scores came on a 3-yard run by Tilil Blackwell, who had 58 yards rushing, and a 7-yard TD pass from Clayton Jenkins to Colton Smith. Jenkins finished with 154 yards passing with a touchdown and three interceptions.
The Spartans loss marked their first winless season since 2009.
