A Gainesville McDonald's employee has been recognized as one of the restaurant chain's top-performing managers in the country.

Elmer Bonilla and the others will each receive the 2020 Ray Kroc Award.  Chosen globally from more than 38,000 restaurants, they represent the top one percent of McDonald’s restaurant managers from around the world, according to a company news release.

Named after McDonald’s Corporation founder, Ray Kroc, the award recognizes and rewards them for their superior results in team performance and operational excellence.

Bonilla was nominated by owner-operator, Bob Swoszowski, for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to the McDonald’s brand.  A committee of representatives from McDonald’s selects the award winners.

Bonilla started his career with Northeast Georgia, Inc. in April 2006 and has managed a number of the company's restaurants.

Company officials say he is very involved with his crew and managers and believes that the crew in his restaurant feel like it is their second home. Elmer and his team have monthly Pot Luck meals together, as well as birthday and anniversary celebrations. Bonilla says “it’s the small things that make a difference”.

He will attend the Ray Kroc Awards celebration at the McDonald’s 2020 Worldwide Convention in April 2020.

In addition to Bonilla, Northeast Georgia, Inc., has had four other Ray Kroc Award Winners; Kelley Hollis, Takisha Angeletti, Danny Hutson and Brian Kinney, something company officials say is "unheard of" for one organization.
