An Atlanta man has been arrested by Hall County authorities in connection with three burglaries in the East Hall area back in 2016.

Derreck Booth, spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff's Office said investigators arrested D'Anthony Martez Brown, 29, on Thursday, Oct. 24.

"[He] was actually incarcerated at the Henry County Jail," Booth said. "He was ready for transfer, so our deputies went and got him."

Booth said Hall County investigators were able to track Brown thanks to a cooperative law enforcement program.

"Back in 2017, a statewide burglary task force was put together - our sheriff's office was a member - and they targeted crimes like this, looking for suspects across the state and Brown was actually identified as a suspect as a part of that task force crackdown."

Warrants were issued for Brown's arrest in May and June of 2017, and Booth said the suspect eventually was arrested.

Brown has been charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and one count of smash-and-grab burglary related to three different crimes.

Brown is accused of breaking into a BP convenience store at 3610 White Sulphur Road on Sept. 3, 2106, causing more than $500 in damage to the business. On Oct. 26, 2017, Brown is believed to have stolen two safes, two cash drawers and cash from Lula Grocery at 5919 Main Street; the total theft in that case was more than $12,000, according to Booth. And then, on Oct. 28, 2016, Brown is accused of entering the Piggly Wiggly store at 2988 Gillsville Highway, stealing cigarettes, money drawers and change.

Booth said Brown is one of nine suspects identified by the burglary task force in 2017 who are believed responsible for break-ins in the area.

Brown remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond.
