*A new Hall County fire engine will go into service next week following a special ceremony that pays homage to the history of fire services. Hall County Fire Services personnel will put the new engine into service at noon Oct. 31 by pushing it into its bay at Hall County Fire Station #7 on East Crescent Drive. The tradition harkens back to the days when hand-drawn and then horse-drawn fire apparatus was pushed back into the station following a fire, according to HCFS Chief Chris Armstrong.
*The Piedmont College a cappella group, Cantabile, will present a free concert featuring works associated with the letter “B” at 5 p.m., October 29 in the Conservatory of Music recital hall. Afterward, the college will host a community open house for the just-completed Conservatory of Music.

*Wahoo Baptist Church in Lumpkin County is celebrating its 200th birthday this weekend. Pastor Mark Stroud says it is the oldest church in Lumpkin County.
*North Georgia Community Foundation recently shared the power of philanthropy with delegates from Ukraine. The international visitors were here through a program with the Open World Leadership Center, an arm of Congress, whose mission is to “raise the awareness of the importance of legislative functions in creating and sustaining democracy.”
