Riverside Military Academy (RMA) in Gainesville and Georgia Military College (GMC) in Milledgeville have signed a transfer agreement that will allow Riverside students a more fluid transition into college.

The Memorandum of Understanding, signed at the GMC campus on Monday, establishes a formal academic transfer mechanism between the college and Riverside. Its purpose is to allow any student who graduates from RMA with a general, college preparatory or technical diploma with guaranteed admission into GMC provided that the student meets the agreement requirements.

The agreement formally recognizes that GMC and RMA are committed to the establishment of an educational partnership to better serve currently enrolled and future students at both institutions. Both parties agree to exercise due diligence in providing as smooth a transition as possible for students who elect to attend GMC following graduation from Riverside Military Academy.

Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, President of Georgia Military College, said during the signing ceremony the agreement broadens the scope of opportunity for Riverside students to pursue their higher education at GMC.

"We are thrilled to launch this partnership with Riverside Military Academy to expand opportunities for Riverside graduates to further their education with us at GMC," Caldwell said. “An agreement such as this provides another excellent pathway toward completion of a college degree."

Retired Colonel Stanley C. 'Stas' Preczewski, President of RMA, said the agreement is a plus for Riverside students who seek higher education.

"By partnering with Georgia Military College, who has a long-standing legacy for excellence, Riverside Military Academy cadets are given yet another opportunity to grow. The agreement expands Riverside Military’s continued commitment to providing its students with outstanding opportunities," Preczewski said. "RMA and GMC share many of the same values. Both institutions recognize the need for a character-based education that focuses on mind, body, and spirit. This agreement provides another path in which our graduates can journey from being young men of character to becoming prepared, global citizens and leaders while being in a familiar environment."
