By most accounts, activity has been extremely light for the early voting period ahead of the Nov. 5 General Election.

That was certainly the case in Hall County last week, where elections officials reported only 352 voters had cast in-person early ballots at the elections office on Browns Bridge Road. Elections officials mailed 137 absentee ballots, but no one has returned an absentee ballot at this point.

While the early voting period continues through Friday, Nov. 1, there is no Saturday voting day scheduled for this election cycle.

Hall County voters have only one item to decide in this year's voting - the extension of a penny sales tax. SPLOST VIII includes $216.9 million in projects for Hall County and its municipalities.

Voters in Flowery Branch have a contested city council race on the ballot, while voters in Gainesville have one contested city council race and one contested school board race to decide. No other municipalities in the county have contested races this election cycle.
