Henson wins three-way playoff to capture City Junior 16-18 division at CGC

GAINESVILLE — Tanner Stephens followed up an opening-round 74 with a final round of 77 (151) Sunday to win the 10-13 age division of the 2019 Gainesville City Junior was completed on Sunday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Shay Mangalat finished 2nd with a total of 172.

In the 14-15 age division, Alex Hughes shot another 75 in round two for a 150 total to overtake 1st round leader Wiley Hickerson. Jack Darke finished 2nd with 78-79 157. Hickerson finished 3rd with 87-84 158.

Low scores and the playoff was the theme of the day in the 16-18 division.

Zayne Hilderbrand and Bradley Boone both fired final round 67's and Dalton Henson shot 70. All three players were 2 under par, tied for the tournament championship and advanced to sudden death. Boone was eliminated after a bogey on the first playoff hole. Hilderbrand and Henson advanced to the second playoff hole where Henson hit a terrific approach shot from 172 yards to within 3-feet for the winning birdie.

First-round leader Perry-Austin Kilburn finished fourth at 143 (68-75) and Jackson Cross was fifth at 144.
