A driver remains at large after a car chase through four counties Monday night.
The vehicle pursuit began about 10 p.m. when a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Buick Century on Ga. 384 (Duncan Bridge Road) for a traffic violation, said Sgt. C.E. Parker of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville.
“White County chased the vehicle into Habersham County, where a Habersham County deputy sheriff attempted a PIT maneuver on Mud Creek Road,” Parker said.
That attempt was unsuccessful, and the pursuit continued into Hall County on Ga. 365.
Hall County Dispatch requested a trooper to assist and the Georgia State Patrol responded to the area of the pursuit, now on Ga. 52.
“After catching up with the pursuing deputies and taking the lead, the trooper conducted a successful PIT maneuver approximately two miles inside Lumpkin County on Ga. 52,” Parker said. “The suspect vehicle was forced from the roadway and crashed into a small ditch and cornfield. The driver fled the scene on foot.”
Habersham County Sheriff’s Office K-9 attempted a track, as did a Georgia Department of Corrections bloodhound, according to Parker. GSP Aviation also provided assistance with FLIR, but the suspect was not located.
The Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the manhunt.
Parker said leads were developed and White County Sheriff’s Office personnel continue to attempt to identify the driver.
No injuries were reported and there was only minor damage to the vehicles involved, Parker said.
